Well beyond 14 days after the tragic deaths of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones persist in remembering the couple.
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt prepared to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has passed that I can finally put my grief into words," posted Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "When we commenced sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the production, remarking that he could not remember "one day without joy".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob cherished deeply. Which is among the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, stating: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
In a separate essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved being with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with the cast, and he comprehended the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese noted.
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge agreed to block the disclosure of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A legal directive issued a security hold on the investigation to limit the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" pertaining to the active case.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a public database noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Following the deaths, public personalities expressed divergent comments.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, making controversial remarks that were met with immediate backlash by many commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his perspective to the those speaking out recently. Speaking on his podcast, Rogan labeled the comments as "shocking" and remarked they demonstrated a troubling absence of compassion.
Rogan finished by proposing that an adviser should have acted when the decision to speak on the tragedy was made.
